HISTORY
The First Born Community Development Center (FBCDC) was established
on a vision based on a Hebrews 12:23 scripture derived from the
King James version of the bible. The main visionary responsible
for the founding of the center on January 1, 1992 was Bishop J.
L. Smith. The Center has
been
a member agency of the Food Bank of North Carolina since June
16, 1992. All Federal In-kind food contributions come from The
Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)/USDA. In 1993-1994,
the FBCDC built a 2,600 square foot building to house the food
operation. The center has freezers for perishable goods and storage
space for non-perishable items. The foundation of the building
was donated by Burroughs Wellcome, Inc. which is now DSM Pharmaceuticals,
Inc.
